Rebuilding Missouri's 6th

Many Missourians from rural communities are aware of the disadvantages their location can have.  Smaller communities often struggle to stay afloat and provide basic, quality infrastructure. Missouri’s 6th district, a predominantly rural and agricultural district, experiences these difficulties. During her campaign,  Gena Ross has dedicated attention to all of the needs that MO-6 is dealing with, and has made a point to emphasize the importance of infrastructure.

Even before Ross decided to run for office, she said she realized just how important infrastructure was to communities around the United States. Her community was personally affected by an infrastructure failure. While living in Minnesota, the I-35W Mississippi River bridge, a road she used frequently, collapsed, injuring 145 people and killing 13. Accidents like this can be preventable with proper infrastructure.

“This is long over due. Talk is cheap. This is the
Show-Me State, let’s see some action."
- Gena Ross at a town hall on July 19, 2020.

Poor infrastructure is affecting us here in Missouri. According to a recent study compiling data by the Federal Highway Administration, Missouri ranks in the top 10 worst states for road infrastructure. According to the same report, about 12% of Missouri bridges are structurally deficient. This is not only blatantly unsafe for Missourians, but it is affecting our economy. A study presented to Congress by the Congressional Research Service found that when states increase money in infrastructure, they boost the economic growth of their communities. The video below by the American Society of Civil Engineers explains how when infrastructure fails, it affects every American on a personal level.

Ross has vowed to make Washington pay attention to the needs of Missouri’s 6th, particularly when it comes to increasing safe infrastructure in rural communities.  Our tax dollars should be put to use to not only to ensure the safety of our citizens, but to help our district thrive. The 6th needs Ross! Missouri's current representation has let our infrastructure go by the wayside for too long. As Ross always says, business as usual is no longer acceptable! If you want to see stronger infrastructure and economic growth in Missouri, vote Ross for District 6 Representative.
